The dog Paris Hilton made famous, Tinkerbell the Chihuahua, has died. She was 14.

"My heart is broken I am so sad & devastated," the socialite and DJ said Tuesday on Instagram. "After 14 amazing years together my baby Tinkerbell has passed away of old age. I feel like I've lost a member of my family. She was such a special & incredible soul. We went through so much together. I can't believe she's gone. I will miss her & think about her for the rest of my life. I love you Tinky, you are a Legend & will never be forgotten."

Hilton then dedicated her Instagram page to Tinkerbell for the day, posting a host of pictures of a pooch who "lived a long, beautiful, luxurious & exciting life." It was a life that included going AWOL for a week in 2004, which resulted in "missing dog" notices going up in West Hollywood and a $5,000 reward being offered for her return. Yup, she made it home in one piece -- albeit without an explanation.

"She lives with my mom part time, since I travel so much," Hilton told Celebuzz in 2012 while showing off her many animals, including a pet pig and a miniature pony. "Plus Tinks is very jealous of my other dogs. My mom spoils her so much and treats her like her baby."

The purse-proportioned pup was, of course, a regular on "The Simple Life," Hilton's reality show with Nicole Richie.

Hilton had posted proof-of-life video seven months ago in answer to fans who she said kept asking if Tinkerbell was still alive. Check out Tink and her crooked little tongue in action, below.

In January, Hilton added a tiny newcomer to her canine coterie: She spent five figures, TMZ reported, on a 3-month-old Pomeranian puppy that weighed in at only 6 ounces.
