President Obama weighs in on Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey feud

With the second presidential debate looming, President Obama took some time out to weigh in on a pop-culture debate: The alleged feud between “American Idol†judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

In a get-out-the-vote call to Miami DJ Michael Yo’s “The Yo! Show†on Friday, Obama was confronted with “the elephant in the room.†Can he bring the ladies back together?

(Carey and Minaj, of course, got into it during “Idol†auditions in Charlotte, N.C., early this month and may not yet be over it.)

“I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident,†Obama said. “I’m all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards.â€

The prez then name-dropped Mariah and “Nick†— Cannon, a.k.a. Mr. Carey — noting that she’s played some gigs for the First Family. Nicki, well, she’s on the First iPod.

Also on the slate during the interview: Joe Biden’s hair, Obama’s first job and keeping Sasha and Malia out of trouble, plus some tax, immigration, healthcare and clean-energy mentions.
