Kim Kardashian on Rob Kardashian’s wedding no-show: ‘I ... understand’
Kim Kardashian loves her brother Rob Kardashian a lot, she says. She also tough-loves him. But that doesn’t mean they fought about anything when he bailed on her wedding day back in May.
“He sent me a long e-mail the morning of, that he was going to leave, and there was no fight,” Mrs. Kanye West told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” Tuesday night. “And I just thought, ‘This is my day, I’m not even going to worry about it. I hope he’s OK.’”
The rumor mill had gone into overdrive when Rob Kardashian was a no-show for the ceremony in Florence, Italy, after attending pre-wedding festivities the night before in Versailles, France.
Distress over his weight and his appearance, TMZ reported, was what found him on a plane bound for Los Angeles while the rest of his family -- well, most of them -- were celebrating the Kimye nuptials.
He’d been the focus of unflattering photos at Los Angeles International Airport when he was leaving for France ahead of the wedding, and reacted on social media by telling the “haters” that he was aware he was overweight.
“so i found out i was trending for being fat... thank you all it really made my day,” he tweeted at the time.
In her chat with Cohen, his sister seemed to confirm that weight was behind her brother’s sudden departure from her wedding festivities.
“If I don’t like something that’s going on in my life, I change it. I don’t sit and complain about it for a year ... ,” she said. “I try to encourage him, and once you don’t make that change for so long and it’s not happening, I get frustrated. My patience runs out.”
That would be the tough-love part.
Rob Kardashian has been struggling with his weight for over a year now, even getting into legal trouble in May 2013 when he tangled with a paparazzo who was trying to get a picture of him with his shirt off.
Misdemeanor charges of battery and petty theft were dropped the next month after Rob reportedly came to a settlement with the photographer in the case.
“I totally understand that he wouldn’t want to see a lot of people if he was feeling uncomfortable ...,” Kim Kardashian told Cohen. “You can only pray and wish that someone would not miss on more memories in life because life is about memories.”
