A man arrested earlier this week on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in Georgia is reportedly the grandson of actor-rapper Ice-T.
Elyjah Marrow, 19, was arrested just before 9 p.m. Tuesday in Marietta, Ga., by police who were responding to a report that a man was down after a shooting, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.
The teen was identified as the grandson of “Law & Order: SVU” star Ice-T, real name Tracy Marrow, by TMZ on Friday. He’d appeared on his grandfather’s reality show, “Ice Loves Coco,” the website said. Elyjah’s mom is Tesha Marrow, Ice-T’s first child.
Police told the AJC that Elyjah Marrow had been handling a handgun recklessly and accidentally shot his roommate, Daryus Johnson, 19. Johnson was unconscious on the floor of their apartment when police arrived, Atlanta’s 11Alive news said. He was pronounced dead later at a hospital.
The younger Marrow faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, receipt of stolen property and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute -- all felonies -- plus a misdemeanor count of reckless conduct, according to his booking record.
As of Friday afternoon, he was being held without bail at Marietta’s Cobb County Jail, according to inmate records.
