Hollywood headlines: a crazy week in review
Courtesy of his “Water for Elephants” costar Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson was reportedly weathering some of the my-girlfriend-cheated storm last week at the ritzy Ventura County ranch where Witherspoon and Jim Toth were married last year. As of Thursday, Pattinson was elsewhere.

Comedian Jimmy Fallon is in talks to host the Oscars in February, with “Saturday Night Live” veteran Lorne Michaels producing, three people with knowledge of the discussions said. ABC has raised objections to having the late-night star from rival NBC play emcee on its Oscar broadcast, these people said, but the network has no authority to veto the choice of host.

Long Beach rapper Snoop Dogg announced his new incarnation as Snoop Lion last week, showing a new interest in Rastafarianism and a hard pivot to traditional reggae music. This week he suggested in an interview with the Huffington Post that he’s tossing his hat in to fill the departing Steven Tyler’s seat on “American Idol’s” judging panel.

On Wednesday night, singer and actress Miley Cyrus was the target of “swatting” -- a prank in which an anonymous caller reports a heinous crime to authorities so a SWAT team will swarm an innocent person’s home -- TMZ reported. The caller, whom Los Angeles police are said to be tracking, told a 911 operator that Cyrus’ property had been invaded by a kidnapper and there had been a shooting. No one was home at the time.
