Fiona Apple roasts Donald Trump in a dark parody of ‘The Christmas Song’
Looks like it’ll be a dark Christmas for Fiona Apple. The “Shadowboxer†singer has delivered a rewritten version of Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song†that aims to hit President-elect Donald Trump below the belt.
Her a cappella rendition of “Trump’s … Roasting on an Open Fire†is making the rounds and can be found, among other places, on a Tumblr page dedicated to videos of the 39-year-old.
Apple, whose song “Container†anchors the title sequence for Showtime’s “The Affair,†goes all Sinéad O’Connor at the end of the video, tearing up a picture of the president-elect. Don’t expect high production values: The clip features only an extreme close-up view of Apple wearing glasses, no makeup and a hairstyle that’s seen better days.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle, singer-songwriter and Las Vegas veteran Dana Kamide has put together an upbeat Christmas parody of Andy Williams’ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year†for the half of the country that sent Trump to Washington.
The title? “It’s the Happiest Time in 8 Years.â€
