Bryan Cranston says he “would definitely move†to Canada if Donald Trump were elected president. And he doesn’t sound like he’s entirely joking.

The actor, who has endorsed Hillary Clinton, was set up for that response by a host on “The Bestseller Experiment†podcast who asked whether, if Trump became president, might Cranston “fancy an extended vacation to Vancouver?â€

“It wouldn’t be a vacation,†the Oscar nominee said in the podcast posted Sunday. “I’d be an expatriate. Absolutely. I would definitely move. It’s not real to me that that would happen. I hope to God it won’t.â€

Without hearing Cranston’s tone of voice, and depending on a person’s politics, that comment can be taken both tragically and comically — which are both facets of the candidate’s personality, the actor observed.

“He’s such a tragic, Shakespearean character, and he’s comedic as well because of the tragedy of this man’s soul, the delusions that he has, the supreme narcissism,†he said. “But a beautiful character. Amazing character.â€

OK, so, that would suggest Cranston isn’t entirely joking about moving north. He predicted that books, movies and plays would be made about Trump, “because of the anomaly he presented†in this election cycle.

And were that to happen, he might not be the actor for the job.

“I do have a judgment of him, and it’s virtually impossible to play someone you have a judgment on because then you’re slanted. ... I need to come at it from a place of neutrality, so that I can build a character and justify what I say, what I do, at all times.

“It’s hard for me to imagine trying to justify what this man has said and done,†Cranston continued. “So I don’t know if it’s actually possible for me to play the character. It would be a challenge.â€
