‘American Hustle,’ ‘12 Years a Slave’ earn Producers Guild nominations
The Producers Guild of America, a leading bellwether for the best picture Oscar, announced on Thursday the 10 films whose producers are nominated for the group’s annual award: “12 Years a Slave,†“American Hustle,†“Blue Jasmine,†“Captain Phillips,†“Dallas Buyers Club,†“Gravity,†“Her,†“Nebraska,†“Saving Mr. Banks†and “The Wolf of Wall Street.â€
The winner of the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck producer of the year award for motion pictures often aligns with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ choice for best picture. The last time the two organizations chose different winners was seven years ago, when the PGA selected “Little Miss Sunshine†and the academy selected Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed.â€
Also nominated Thursday in the animated motion picture category were the producers of “The Croods,†“Despicable Me 2,†“Epic,†“Frozen†and “Monsters University.â€

Nominees for outstanding producer of documentary film are the producers of “A Place at the Table,†“Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story,†“Life According to Sam,†“We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks†and “Which Way Is the Front Line From Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington.â€
Vying for the David L. Wolper Award for long-form television are the producers of “American Horror Story: Asylum,†“Behind the Candelabra,†“Killing Kennedy,†“Phil Spector†and “Top of the Lake.â€
Nominees for the Norman Felton Award for television drama are the producers of “Breaking Bad,†“Downton Abbey,†“Game of Thrones,†“Homeland†and “House of Cards.â€
The nominees for the Danny Thomas Award for television comedy are the producers of “30 Rock,†“Arrested Development,†“The Big Bang Theory,†“Modern Family†and “Veep.â€
BALLOT: Cast your Golden Globe Awards vote
The nominees for nonfiction television are the producers of “30 for 30,†“Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,†“Duck Dynasty,†“Inside the Actors Studio†and “Shark Tank.â€
Nominated for live entertainment and talk television are the producers of “The Colbert Report,†“Jimmy Kimmel Live,†“Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,†“Real Time With Bill Maher†and “Saturday Night Live.â€
The nominees for competition television are the producers of “The Amazing Race,†“Dancing With the Stars,†“Project Runway,†“Top Chef†and “The Voice.â€
The 25th Produces Guild Awards will be handed out Jan. 19 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
