‘Veep’: Join a live chat with Matt Walsh on Monday
Join actor Matt Walsh and Times staff writer Glenn Whipp at 1 p.m. PDT Monday for a live video chat about Walsh’s turn as the sad sack, self-loathing communications director on HBO’s political comedy “Veep.â€
Now in its second season, “Veep†follows Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Selina Meyer as she struggles to remain politically relevant and still be vice president of the United States. Walsh’s Mike McLintock has been on Selena’s team since she was a senator, though their relationship isn’t necessarily stronger from the years they’ve put in together.
Walsh was a founding member of Chicago comedy troupe the Upright Citizens Brigade and he says his improv training there has been perfect training for “Veep.â€

“We basically got to help develop the characters in the first season and then we get to add dialogue and kitsch jokes -- there’s a certain custodial responsibility for our characters in the process,†Walsh says in an interview on HBO.
Do you have a favorite Mike moment? How did the character get so deeply in debt? And will he ever develop a bit of ambition? Join us Monday, questions in hand, and we’ll hear what Walsh has to say.
