Jodie Foster will be taking home the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, it was announced Thursday in Hollywood.

The award, for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment, was first given in 1952, to its namesake. The first female recipient was Judy Garland in 1962. Last year the honor went to Morgan Freeman.

Foster, 49, has three feature films under her belt as a director and has acted in dozens more. She has two Oscars and two Golden Globes, for “The Accused†and “The Silence of the Lambs.â€

The announcement was made Thursday morning by Kristen Stewart, Foster’s “Panic Room†costar, who took the stage with actor Simon Baker on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.

“This is a special moment for me,†Stewart said during the announcement. “She’s been really important in my life for a long time.â€

It may have been a bit of a tight turnaround for Stewart, who was spotted out Wednesday night at a Halloween party hosted by Maroon 5 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Yes, she was holding hands with Robert Pattinson. According to a People source, they made it home — to her place — just after midnight.
