TV ratings: ‘The Following’ Season 2 finale down from last year
It looks like the Season 2 finale of Fox’s serial-killer thriller “The Following†slayed fewer viewers than last year’s closer.
“The Following,†starring Kevin Bacon, ended the season with 4.8 million viewers overall and a rating of 1.5 among advertiser-desired 18-to-49-year-olds Monday night, according to early numbers from Nielsen. Season 1 went out with 7.8 million viewers and a 2.7 in 18-49, so this year’s finale is down about 40%.
The show still posted its best numbers in a month and a half, and Fox anticipates a boost of 60% or more from delayed viewing.
The series has been renewed for a third season.

ABC was the most-watched outlet overall (13.4 million viewers). “Dancing With the Stars†delivered 15.1 million viewers total and rose 9% from last week, to a 2.4 in 18-49, while “Castle’s†rating went up 6% to a 1.9.
CBS’ new Monday offering “Friends With Better Lives†had better numbers this time around, rising 12% to a 1.9 this week. Meanwhile, “2 Broke Girls†and “Mike & Molly†both scored a 2.2 in 18-49, up 5% and 16%, respectively.
