Stanley Donen (“Singin’ in the Rain,” “Funny Face”) directed MGM’s lavish 1954 biopic “Deep in My Heart” about composer Sigmund Romberg, which has just made its Blu-ray debut on Warner Archive. Oscar winner Jose Ferrer plays the composer of such operettas as “The Student Prince” and “The Desert Song,” and many of the studio’s top stars perform Romberg’s songs, including Ann Miller, Jane Powell, Cyd Charisse and Howard Keel. “Deep in My Heart” also marks the only time Gene Kelly and his brother Fred appeared together on screen in the tap-happy “I Love to Go Swimmin’ With Wimmen.”
