Cindy Williams became a TV star as Shirley Feeney opposite Penny Marshall’s Laverne De Fazio in the 1976-83 ABC sitcom “Laverne & Shirley.†But let’s not forget that she appeared in two films from the golden age of cinema in the 1970s: George Lucas’ 1973 nostalgic coming-of-age comedy, “American Graffiti,†and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 study of paranoia, “The Conversation.†The American Cinematheque’s Aero Theatre in Santa Monica is welcoming Williams on July 24 for these screenings. She’ll discuss her career after “Graffiti.†Before the program, she’ll sign copies of her new book, “Shirley, I Jest! A Storied Life.†For more information go to https://www.americancinematheque.com.
