Placido Domingo recovering ‘satisfactorily’ from surgery
Plácido Domingo is recovering from surgery to remove his gallbladder and is expected to leave the hospital soon, his spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
The spokeswoman said that the “surgery went very, very well. He is recovering satisfactorily and we expect that he will be discharged in the coming days. “ She didn’t elaborate.
The 74-year-old tenor was admitted to a New York hospital last week after experiencing intense pain during a dress rehearsal for the Metropolitan Opera’s production of “Tosca,†which he had been scheduled to conduct.

Last week, the Met said the gallbladder removal would involve a “minimally invasive procedure†that would allow Domingo to resume his activities after a brief hospital stay.
Domingo has canceled some of his conducting appearances at the Met but is expected to be back on the podium by Nov. 6.
The opera star currently serves as general director of Los Angeles Opera.
