‘Iceman Cometh,’ with Brian Dennehy, Nathan Lane, heading to BAM
Brian Dennehy, who is currently in the Los Angeles production of “The Steward of Christendom†at the Mark Taper Forum, will reprise his recent Chicago performance in Eugene O’Neill’s “The Iceman Cometh†for a six-week run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2015.
Scott Rudin is producing the revival production, which will run at BAM from Feb. 5, 2015 to March 15, 2015. The production will also star Nathan Lane, who appeared alongside Dennehy in the Chicago production at the Goodman Theatre in 2012.
Lane played the role of Theodore Hickman, or “Hickey,†in the play, while Dennehy played Larry Slade. The play, which runs close to five hours, follows the patrons of a New York saloon in 1916.
The production is directed by the Goodman’s Robert Falls, who has staged a number of prominent O’Neill revivals, including the 2009 Broadway production of “Desire Under the Elms,†featuring Dennehy, and the 2003 production of “Long Day’s Journey into Night,†which starred Dennehy and Vanessa Redgrave.
