A Cole Porter quiz: Anything Goes
In his 1934 review of the frothy musical “Anything Goes,†New York Times drama critic Brooks Atkinson wrote that Cole Porter “has written a dashing score with impish lyrics.†Porter’s singular talent was similarly praised for much of his career and was heralded again in 2011 with a new production of “Anything Goes†that won a Tony as the best revival of a Broadway musical. That production, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, is on a national tour and makes its way to Los Angeles this week for a six-week run at the Ahmanson Theatre.
