Top 4 U.S. mobile carriers will sell Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 4, Edge
AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon confirmed they will carry the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, two new smartphones announced by Samsung on Wednesday.
No prices or release dates were given. Samsung said the Note 4 will start going on sale globally in October while the Note Edge will be available “later this year.â€
The Note 4 is the latest and largest version of Samsung’s popular hybrid smartphone/tablet device and will feature a monstrous 5.7-inch screen and a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera capable of taking 120-degree wide-angle pictures -- ideal for selfies.
The Note Edge is a clone of the Note 4 except that the Note Edge’s screen is slightly smaller at 5.6 inches but features a curved edge. That edge functions like a secondary screen where users can access their frequently used apps, see notifications or control their music. The edge is always turned on, even if the rest of the screen gets covered with a smartphone case.
After the Samsung phones were announced, Apple’s stock slumped 4.2%, closing at $98.94 a share Wednesday, a day after hitting an all-time high of $103.74 during Tuesday’s trading session. Apple is expected to announce two new iPhones next week with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens to compete against large-screen Android devices such as the Note 4 and Note Edge.
