Google Nexus LG phone to be announced this month, report says
Google and LG are teaming up to create the next Nexus smartphone, according to multiple reports Friday.
According to CNET, which cites a “person briefed on the matter,†the phone will be announced in late October by the companies.
This will be the first Nexus phone by LG. Nexus is the brand Google uses for its Android products, including the Nexus 7 tablet by Asus and the Galaxy Nexus smartphone by Samsung.
The LG Nexus phone will be similar to the recently announced Optimus G smartphone, according to the report.
The LG Nexus, whose name is still unknown, will feature a 1,280 by 768 pixel HD display, an 8-megapixel camera and include wireless battery charging, according to MoDaCo, a tech news site.
The phone will run on a quad-core Snapdragon S processor and be available in 8 GB and 16 GB versions with no microSD card slot. The phone is also expected to debut the next version of Google’s operating system, Android 4.2.
According to MoDaCo, the phone’s release date will be in mid-November.
The last two Nexus phones, the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S, were developed by Samsung while the original Nexus, the Nexus One, was made by HTC.
