iOS 7 zoom animation causing some Apple users motion sickness

A number of Apple users have taken to the company’s forum to complain that a new animation feature in iOS 7 is making them nauseated.

When users unlock their device or when they tap to go in or out of an app in iOS 7, the operating system animates the apps flying in and out of the screen. Users are calling this “zoom animation†and many don’t like it.

Although the zoom animation is present in past versions of iOS, it is more intense in iOS 7. One reason for that is because, unlike before, it is now present when users open their app folders.

The zoom animation caused one user to take to Apple’s forums and ask others if there is a way to turn the effect off. This GIF shows the zoom animation in action.

“The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache,†the user said. “It’s exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.â€

Many others agree with the original poster, and have asked Apple to allow users to turn off the feature. Some have also posted saying they went through the trouble of downgrading their device back to iOS 6.

One user even posted about opting for a device that still ran iOS 6.

“I was in that same boat up until last Saturday,†the user responded. “Traded in my phone for a new one with iOS 6 on it and got off the boat to sick town.â€

For now, there is no way to turn off the animation.
