Comedian, actress and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg has made quick work of selling her home in Pacific Palisades.

The 1933-built residence, which was also once the home of actor David Niven, was listed for sale in mid-January at $8.795 million and in two weeks had an offer in hand. It sold Thursday for $8.8 million, or $5,000 more than the asking price.

Set at the end of a gated driveway, the two-story house is full of character. Beyond the front door is a grand foyer with checkerboard marble floors that opens to the living room. Built-ins fill two walls in the library, which has one of two fireplaces. The master bathroom is finished in onyx.

An updated kitchen, dining and family rooms and six bedrooms also lie within more than 7,000 square feet of interior. There are six bathrooms spread across two floors.

Outside, gardens and landscaping create a backdrop for an irregularly shaped swimming pool. Flagstone patios, lawn and mature trees complete the more than half-acre of grounds.
