Arcadia’s most expensive home sales of 2017 top out at $11.88 million
Arcadia, a city steeped in equestrian history, was founded by Elias Jackson “Lucky†Baldwin during the Gold Rush era. Since then, the city has shifted into a wealthy enclave filled with pricey mansions, but it hasn’t forgotten its horse racing roots.
In 2017, Arcadia’s real estate market continued to move at a healthy clip, with more than 100 sales surpassing the $2-million mark and 15 sales of $4 million or more. Here are the 2017 deals that topped the charts in the Pasadena-adjacent city.
$11.88 million — Fallen Leaf Road
Arcadia’s most expensive home sale was recorded in December with the sale of a Neo Tudor-style mansion in the Upper Rancho neighborhood.
Built in 2017, the sprawling 16,095-square-foot home was designed by residential designer Robert Tong and built by Bowden Development. Features include a 30-foot-high rotunda entry, master and sous chef kitchens and a ballroom. The home theater is equipped with a dedicated powder room and wet bar.
The master suite comprises a sitting area, fireplace and bathroom with a steam shower. There are seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in all.
Concrete decking surrounds the backyard swimming pool, which has a spa and waterfall feature. Loggias, an outdoor dining room, a fireplace, lawns and landscaping complete the grounds.
Ash Rizk of Coldwell Banker Arcadia held the listing. Bao Han of Long Dragon Realty Group represented the buyer.
$9.05 million – Hampton Road
Another of Tong’s designs, a stone-faced Italianate mansion, sold in November for $750,000 less than the asking price.
Sitting on about three-quarters of an acre in Upper Rancho, the elegant estate features marble- and wood-framed entryways under 30-foot rotunda ceilings.
Seven bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms are spread across 11,000 square feet of interiors, and balconies overlook the manicured backyard, which holds a patio, pool and spa.
Ash Rizk of Coldwell Banker Arcadia held the listing. Yue Xiao of RE/MAX Advanced Realty represented the buyer.
$7.15 million – Rodeo Road
Tong designed Arcadia’s four most-expensive sales this year; this soon-to-be-finished estate will hold six bedrooms and nine bathrooms and will include an 800-square-foot pool house.
Hardwood floors, crown moldings and custom-finishes highlight over 10,000 square feet of space.
Wood-paneled walls line the library, and the master suite features two walk-in closets, as well as a bathroom equipped with a whirlpool tub and steam shower.
Robert Doeppel of RBD Real Estates Services held the listing and represented the buyer.
$5.55 million — Oaklawn Road
A rare single-level design by Tong, this French Country-inspired estate sits on slightly more than half an acre in the Santa Anita Oaks area.
Built by Mur-Sol Construction in 2017, the blue-trimmed house has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and 7,668 square feet of interior. A separate pool/guest house provides an additional 753 square feet of living space.
A home theater, wine room and wok kitchen are among the living areas. Interior details such as custom ceilings, wainscoting and crown moldings are a common theme throughout.
Outdoors, a large patio with a built-in barbecue creates space for entertaining. The swimming pool features multiple waterfall features.
Gina Olivares of Podley Properties was the listing agent. Bao Han of Long Dragon Realty Group represented the buyer.
$5.08 million – West Naomi Avenue
A double-gated circular driveway leads up to this luxurious French-style manor, which holds six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in over 8,000 square feet.
Double glass-and-iron doors open to a two-story foyer lined with marble under a crystal chandelier. Farther in, amenities include two great rooms, a theater room, a wet bar and a wine cellar.
Balconies overlook a backyard that features a miniature golf course and a pool and spa.
Anna Hui Ju Liao of Irn Realty held the listing, and Feng Gao of Century 21 Care represented the buyer.
$4.955 million – Los Altos Avenue
Fronted by extensive landscaping, this six-bedroom estate was built in 2017 and found a buyer after a month on the market.
Floors of marble and hardwood line 9,300 square feet of interiors. French doors lead to a spacious backyard, where a tennis court sits adjacent to a pool with a waterfall feature.
Ming Song of RE/MAX Premier Arcadia held the listing. Shaowei Jin of Irn Realty represented the buyer.
$4.8 million – Murietta Drive
Tong’s third home among the city’s priciest sales is a custom-built spot that features many of the architect’s usual flourishes: a grand marble entry under a chandelier, wrought-iron staircases and a wood-paneled library.
The master suite, one of six bedrooms, holds a free-standing tub and two walk-in closets, and the room opens to an elegant loft set under skylights.
Chloe Chen of RE/MAX Advanced Realty held the listing. Yujia Zhang of the same brokerage represented the buyer.
