Former AEG president snags Brentwood house from Fred Couples
Former AEG President and Chief Executive Tim Leiweke was buyer of the Brentwood home sold off-market in March by professional golfer Fred Couples.
Leiweke, who is in his final weeks as president and chief executive of Toronto-based Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, paid $5.815 million for the Spanish Colonial Revival-style home, with negotiated furnishings pushing that total to $6,014,525.
Accessed through a courtyard entry, the gated home has a grand foyer, a step-down living room, a center-island kitchen, a library, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in nearly 5,700 square feet. Arched doorways, hardwood and limestone flooring, French doors and pendant lighting are among the interior details.
Outdoors, landscaped grounds contain a loggia, an outdoor living room, a fireplace and a pool with a spa. A detached guesthouse with an additional bedroom en-suite sits across from the pool.
Couples, who has since decamped to a home in Newport Coast, purchased the property in 2012 from former Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy.
David Vertlieb of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the golfer in the most recent sale, which closed outside the Multiple Listing Service. Alisa Peterson, also of Sotheby’s International Realty, represented Leiweke and his wife, Bernadette.
Leiweke, 58, announced last summer that he would be stepping down as chief executive of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, a position he has held since 2013, this year to pursue other business opportunities. He was elected to the board of directors for internet radio service Pandora in April.
Couples, 55, joined the PGA Tour in 1982 and the Champions Tour in 2010. Among his wins are a pair of Players Championships and one major, the 1992 Masters Tournament at Augusta National.
