Raiders tailback Maurice Jones-Drew unloads home in Jacksonville, Fla.
Maurice Jones-Drew of the Oakland Raiders has completed the handoff of his lakefront home in Jacksonville, Fla., selling the golf course property for $745,000.
The veteran tailback, who spent his first eight seasons in the NFL with the Jaguars, put the home on the market in June after signing a three-year, $7.5-million contract with the Raiders in the offseason. He had asked as much as $890,000 for the property.
The two-story residence, on about a third of an acre, features water and fairway views of the Mark McCumber-designed golf course at Queen’s Harbour & Country Club. Built in 1999, the nearly 4,100 square feet of living space includes a living room with a fireplace, an updated kitchen, an exercise/media room, five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Recessed ceilings and crown molding lend a formal touch to the interiors.
Outside, a covered lanai opens to a screened pool and spa.
The former UCLA All-American has struggled in his first year with the Raiders, managing just 64 yards rushing in seven games this season. The 29-year-old was a first-team All-Pro in 2011, leading all rushers with 1,606 yards on the ground.
Jones-Drew paid $850,000 for the property in 2006, public records show. Ann Pohl of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty represented both the running back and the buyer in the sale, which closed in mid-October.
The Oakland native maintains a residence in Danville, Calif., which he purchased in 2011 for $4.15 million.
