The longtime Encino home of the late entertainers Jayne Meadows and Steve Allen has sold for $3,778,888.

The savvy buyer must have understood that the asking price of $4,488,888 was a nod to Meadows’ upbringing by her missionary parents in China, where eight is considered a lucky number, and continued the use of the significant digit.

The 7,542-square-foot ranch-style house, built in 1951, is replete with a formal entry, living and dining rooms, an office/media room, a library, a breakfast room, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
