Chicago Bears’ Jared Allen does the real estate shuffle
Chicago Bears defensive end Jared Allen has made a pair of moves away from the Windy City, divesting himself of a home in Minnesota and putting another property in Arizona on the market for $3.495 million.
On the sale, Allen unloaded his home in Chanhassen, Minn., for $1.55 million after nearly a year on the market. The two-story Traditional, built in 2007, sits on more than half an acre with lake views and large expanses of grass.
Within the 8,616 square feet of living space is a chef’s kitchen, a great room with a fireplace, a library/office, a game room, a wet bar and a reading alcove. The master retreat, one of six bedrooms and six bathrooms, features a coffee/wine bar and soaking tub.
Allen, who spent six seasons with the Vikings prior to joining the Bears as a free agent last offseason, originally asked as much as $1.75 million for the property last year. He paid $1.32 million for the house in 2009, records show.
Jeffrey Dewing of Coldwell Banker Burnet was the listing agent. Joseph Welu of Re/Max Advantage Plus represented the buyer in the sale, which closed in February.
His desert digs, formerly owned by retired Major League Baseball infielder Aaron Boone, sits down a long drive within the Peak, a guard-gated community in North Scottsdale.
Built in 1995, the Santa Barbara-inspired residence is highlighted by double-height interiors with stone pillars, glass-enclosed wine storage, a center-island kitchen, a game room with a wet bar and an exercise room. There are seven bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms, including separate children and master wings.
Landscaped grounds of more than four acres contain large entertainer’s spaces, an outdoor kitchen, a pool and spa with a waterfall feature and a detached guesthouse. Wide views of Pinnacle Peak complete the setting.
The NFL veteran purchased the home from Boone in 2011 for $2.4 million, records show. He owns other property in the area.
Todd Moen of the Moen Group has the listing.
Allen, five times a Pro Bowler, appeared in 15 games for Chicago last season, finishing with 5.5 sacks. The 32-year-old is the active NFL leader in quarterback takedowns with 134 across 11 seasons with the Chiefs, Vikings and Bears.
