Onetime Georgia Frontiere estate sells for $38 million
A Bel-Air mansion with deep roots into Los Angeles’ NFL history has sold for $38 million, public records show. It was once the home of the late St. Louis Rams majority owner Georgia Frontiere.
The nearly 2-acre gated estate has been through multiple owners and a complete overhaul since her day, selling in 2007 for $27.5 million, in 2010 for $18 million and in 2011 for $19.15 million.
Designed by Paul Williams in 1931 and rebuilt in 2007, the Mediterranean-style villa has 17,700 square feet of living space on two stories. Centered on a courtyard with a fountain, the mansion features a home theater, a library, a bar, an art studio, a gym, a wine cellar, 10 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms.
Two motor courts provide parking for as many as 40 cars.
A tennis court, a swimming pool, a guest house lawn and mature landscaping complete the grounds.
Frontiere, who died in 2008 at 80, was responsible for moving the pro football team from L.A. to Anaheim in 1980 and then to St. Louis in 1995.
The off-market transaction played out outside of the Multiple Listing Service.
