Former Hollywood Hills home of Errol Flynn, Moby comes to market

A Hollywood Regency-style residence with ties to design, film and music royalty has come on the market in the Bird Streets area of Hollywood Hills for $5.95 million.

Built in the 1920s, the storied home was once lived in by leading man Errol Flynn and was long owned by late comedian-actor Paul Lynde. During his ownership, Lynde commissioned John Elgin Woolf, an architect to the stars in his day who popularized the Hollywood Regency style, to remodel the home in the 1950s.

The 3,700-square-foot home, with 12-foot-high paneled ceilings, Palladian columns and antique mirrors, was later acquired by DJ and singer-songwriter Moby and fashion designer Deanna Berkeley in 2008 for $2.95 million. The pair later sold the property in 2013 for $2.95 million, records show.

Recently updated and restored, the home is distinguished by silver-leaf wood floors, an original marble fireplace and arched French doors that take in wide views of the downtown skyline.

Among features is a chef’s kitchen with two La Cornue ranges, a marble-lined gym, elaborate crystal chandeliers and a second-floor master suite for three bedrooms and five bathrooms. There are three terraces.

Outdoors, a brick-lined patio features a trapezoidal pool and an adjacent domed cabana. Elsewhere on the grounds is a guesthouse.
