The English country-style house he sold was built in 1988, but the exterior has a timeless quality. Flower boxes, dormer windows and bowed window muntins add charm.

Inside are formal living and dining rooms, a grand staircase and 5,680 square feet of elegant living space.

The master suite has a fireplace and a private veranda. The two-story house has a total of five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and a powder room.

The separate guesthouse is also two-story with vaulted ceilings and its own garage.

The nearly half-acre grounds feature English ivy, rose bushes, mature trees and a grotto-style swimming pool with a spa.

Ladd, 77, is known for greenlighting George Lucas’ “Star Wars,†among other accomplishments. He was president of Fox before forming his own production company. His other hit films include the Oscar-winning “Chariots of Fire†and “The Right Stuff.â€

Ladd bought the house in 2001 for $4.5 million. Paul Margolis of Coldwell Banker was the listing agent, and independent broker Marianna Wu represented the buyer.
