Pope Francis’ Harley-Davidson for sale
Holy motors! The Popesicle is for sale!
The Bonhams auction house will shortly be selling a Harley-Davidson FXDC Dyna Super Glide owned by, and signed by, Pope Francis.
The motorcycle, which His Holiness personalized with a signature on the gas tank, comes with a matching leather jacket.

The auction will take place at the Grand Palais in Paris on Feb. 6.
It is not clear whether His Holiness has ridden the 1,585cc machine. Ben Walker, head of motorcycles for Bonhams, said: “We don’t know if Pope Francis rode it -- or for how many miles. I suspect it’s done a minimal number of miles.â€
But Francis did bless the motorcycle, along with bikes belonging to approximately 800 fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, at an event last June.
At that St. Peter’s Square gathering, according to Bonhams, the Pope warned the riders that their obsession with “power and pleasure†could weaken their connection to God.

It is also not clear what has become of a second Dyna Super Glide. Harley-Davidson presented His Holiness with two of the street bikes, in honor of its own 110th anniversary. The second Harley is not being put up for auction.
It is well known that Pope Francis eschews pomp and uses public transportation in lieu of limos. His position on motorcycling is less well known.
Funds from the sale of the Harley will be used to support a hostel and soup kitchen at Rome’s Termini railway station. The bike will come with a Certificate of Conformity from Harley-Davidson and a Papal Certificate signed by His Holiness’ personal secretary, Msgr. Alfred Xuereb.
It is expected to fetch $16,000 to $20,000 at auction.
