Volvo is recalling nearly 31,000 of its S60 sedans to fix an issue with the oil pressure warning system, according to a federal safety agency.

The announcement affected only cars with the T5 five-cylinder turbocharged engine.

At issue is the vehicles’ low oil-pressure warning system, which may fail to notify drivers that their engine needs oil.
“Without being warned of a low oil pressure situation, the driver may continue to drive the vehicle until it stalls, which increases the risk of a crash,†NHTSA said in a statement.
Volvo is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue, according to spokesman Dean Shaw.
Volvo will begin notifying owners in the coming days, and dealers will update the vehicles’ software free of charge.
