Hot concerts in a chill location at the Strip’s poolside venues
Vegas, the “entertainment capital of the world,” boasts several striking performance venues. But during the scorching summer months, pools on the Strip also host big concert events. Here are two places where you can see the hottest artists without ever leaving the cool water.
Now in its 10th year, the Mandalay Bay Beach Concert Series has been a premier summer concert destination. The Beach Boys, Snoop Dogg and Gavin DeGraw are past performers on the Mandalay Bay Beach stage, which rises over the resort’s faux coastline. Bring beach blankets or even wade in the surf while enjoying the music. This year’s lineup includes Lee Brice on June 5, Chris Young on June 6, Needtobreathe and Switchfoot on July 10, Iration and Katchafire on July 17, Ziggy Marley on July 31, and Randy Houser and Dustin Lynch on Aug. 28. The series runs through September. www.mandalaybay.com
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is another hot spot to catch some of music’s biggest stars performing poolside. Its Set Your Life to Music series, now in its third year, has featured such notable names as Iggy Azalea, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Kendrick Lamar performing at Boulevard Pool, with space for 3,000 fans. Some of the acts confirmed for this year’s lineup include Neon Trees on June 12; Barenaked Ladies, Violent Femmes and Colin Hay on July 18; and Slightly Stoopid on Aug. 14. www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com
