Sebastian Maniscalco: L.A.’s hottest headliner talks entertainment

Los Angeles is jam-packed with stuff to do and I often find myself asking, “What recession?” How the hell can there be a 45-minute wait for sushi on a Tuesday night?
L.A. is not only the entertainment capital of the world, it is a mecca for being entertained while doing your daily errands. The biggest runway in town? It’s not at LAX but the 40 feet of sidewalk outside Urth Café on Melrose Avenue -- a place where people glance up from eating their $25 chicken salad to see who is walking down the sidewalk. If I am paying $9 for a latte, I am not taking my eyes off that drink.
Need a laugh? Go to Whole Foods on Fairfax and Santa Monica and listen to how many people make sure everyone in the store knows they are “gluten free.” Have a sweet tooth? Go to one of the 40 yogurt places located within one square mile.
Art? Los Angeles has a ton. My favorite is Lana Gomez at Roseark Jewelry. The best people-watching is at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. If you have guests in town and want to see a celebrity this is your best bet. I used to be a waiter in the lounge and waited on Hollywood’s elite. Word of advice: Don’t come and order a green tea and camp the table for five hours. Bring some cash and plan to spend it! Love my city, however I can’t wait for Christmas when everyone hightails out of here.
