Coming up Sunday: The West Hollywood Book Fair

West Hollywood gets bookish this Sunday with the 11th annual West Hollywood Book Fair. Set in and around the new West Hollywood public library, the event will have panels, readings, comics discussions, things for kids, and even some talk about e-books (that’s where you’ll find me).
The immense lineup of authors who will be there includes film star Andrew McCarthy -- he’s an award-winning travel writer who has just published a memoir, “The Longest Way Home.” There will be people to talk about darkness and crime -- many mystery writers, including T. Jefferson Parker, are on the bill. And if that doesn’t suit you, perhaps some spiritual enlightenment, courtesy of Deepak Chopra.
Former NEA chair and poet Dana Goia is scheduled to appear; so is poet Douglas Kearney, novelist Heidi Durrow, graphic novelist Joshua Dysart, literary radio host Michael Silverblatt and Joe Donnelly, editor of the literary journal Slate.
In keeping with West Hollywood’s tradition, there will be an LBGT Lounge, with readings and panels titled “Divining Divas,” “Race, Gender, Culture, and Identity in the LBGT Community” and “A Bunch of Gay Guys talking About Writing.”
If you go and see someone there who looks like celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson, actress Sara Gilbert, or comedienne Rachel Dratch, yes, they are who you think they are. They’re all participating.
The West Hollywood Book Fair takes place from 10am-6pm; all events are free.
