J.K. Rowling: Lord Voldemort ‘nowhere near as bad’ as Donald Trump
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has received his share of celebrity endorsements, with stars such as Mike Tyson and Dennis Rodman backing the controversial billionaire.
“Harry Potter†author J.K. Rowling, however, is decidedly not a member of Trump’s fan club.
The Scottish writer posted a link on Twitter to a BBC article headlined “Why people are calling American businessman Donald Trump Voldemort.â€
The BBC article discussed Trump’s recent proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States. Trump’s comments, a response to the San Bernardino shootings, were roundly denounced by his rivals in both political parties.
Some Twitter users responded to Trump’s proposal by comparing him to Lord Voldemort, the “Dark Lord†and Harry Potter’s archenemy in the Rowling novels.
“How horrible,†Rowling commented. “Voldemort was nowhere near as bad.â€
Trump, an avid and frequently unfiltered Twitter user, has not yet responded to Rowling. He did, however, post a tweet urging his followers to pick up a book not written by the “Harry Potter†creator: “I am signing copies of my book CRIPPLED AMERICA. Order yours now -- makes a great holiday gift!â€
