Oddest book title of the year: ‘How to Poo on a Date’
“How to Poo on a Date: The Lovers’ Guide to Toilet Etiquette†by Mats & Enzo has been named the winner of the Diagram Prize for oddest book title of the year.
Writing duo Mats & Enzo have made the finalist list for the prize three previous times with “How to Poo on Holiday,†“How to Poo at Work†and “How to Bonk at Work.†This is their first win.
The British prize has been awarded annually since “Proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Nude Mice†was recognized in 1978. There is no cash award, but the nominator of the winner is offered (although doesn’t always claim) a bottle of “fairly passable†claret.
Beginning in 2000 the prize went from being selected by experts in the publishing industry to an online vote.
Other finalists for this year’s prize included “Working-Class Cats: The Bodega Cats of New York City†by Chris Balsiger and Erin Canning, “Pie-ography: Where Pie Meets Biography by Jo Packham,†and another toilet-themed title, “The Origin of Feces†by David Waltner-Toews.
“How to Poo on a Date: The Lovers’ Guide to Toilet Etiquette†has not yet made it to American bookstores -- or bathrooms. It goes on sale in the U.S. May 14.
