President Obama will meet Friday with participants in the special forces operation that raided Osama bin Laden’s Pakistan compound and killed the terrorist leader, according to a senior White House official.

The private meeting will occur during a visit by the president to Ft. Campbell, Ky., where he is scheduled to address service members who recently returned from overseas deployments. Obama also met Wednesday in the Oval Office with Vice Admiral William H. McRaven, the commander of the Joint Special Operations Command.

Ft. Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division, which the White House said has several combat teams that have recently returned from Afghanistan.

Vice President Joe Biden will join the president for the visit, which an administration spokesman said is intended to show support for the U.S. military and its continuing missions overseas.

“The successful mission against Osama bin Laden is a monumental achievement, but the fact remains that we’re still at war,†Press Secretary Jay Carney said Thursday. “It’s important to acknowledge that, and for Americans to remember that despite the elimination of Bin Laden, we’re still extremely dependent upon and grateful to our military men and women for what they do.â€
