at No. 4 Texas Christian 38, Air Force 7: Ed Wesley had a career-high 209 yards and two touchdowns, and the TCU defense stiffened after giving up its first October touchdown. Wesley had more yards by himself than the nation’s No. 1 rushing offense as the Horned Frogs (8-0, 4-0 Mountain West) piled up 377 yards on the ground, 30 more than the Falcons averaged coming in.
at No. 9 Utah 59, Colorado State 6: Jordan Wynn threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns in drizzly weather and the Utes ran their record to 7-0 for the third time in seven years. The sophomore quarterback completed 23 of 29 passes and reached the 300-yard mark for the third time in his career. With the game in hand, Wynn didn’t play after Matt Asiata’s rushing touchdown pushed Utah (4-0 Mountain West) to a 38-6 lead midway through the third quarter. The Rams (2-6, 1-3 MWC) were able to move the ball against Utah in the first half but could only net two field goals after getting inside Utah’s 10 twice.
Hawaii 45, at Utah State 7: Alex Green ran for 172 yards and four touchdowns, both career highs, for the Warriors (6-2, 4-0 Western Athletic), who also got 389 yards passing from Bryant Moniz.
at Brigham Young 25, Wyoming 20: Freshman linebacker Kyle Van Noy batted down a fourth-down pass with 16 seconds left as the Cougars (3-5, 2-2 MW) held off the Cowboys (2-6, 0-4). The BYU defense held Wyoming to three positive-yardage plays in the first half.
Houston 45, at Southern Methodist 20: Michael Hayes and Bryce Beall rushed for two touchdowns each for the Cougars (4-3, 3-1 Conference USA), who have won two of four games since star quarterback Case Keenum was lost for the season with a knee injury.
at Central Florida 41, Rice 14: Ronnie Weaver ran for three touchdowns and freshman quarterback Jeff Godfrey passed for one and ran for another for the Knights (5-2, 3-0 CUSA), who are off to their best start since 1998. The Owls (2-6, 1-3) hardly threatened.
at Idaho 37, New Mexico State 14: Nate Enderle passed for 291 yards and three touchdowns as the Vandals (4-3, 1-1 WAC) raced to a 31-0 lead in the first half over the Aggies (1-6, 0-3), who were penalized 12 times for 99 yards.
