WINTERS, CALIF.

Winters Outdoor Quilt Festival

When, where: June 12, throughout downtown

Highlights: This annual display turns historic downtown Winters into a gallery of more than 300 quilts, including specimens that date to the Civil War era. Local artists and vendors come out for the occasion, and quilting workshops are offered.

BOONVILLE, CALIF.

Sierra Nevada World Music Festival

When, where: June 18-20, Mendocino County Fairgrounds

Highlights: This annual convergence of world and reggae musicians focuses on peace and unity. Slated for this year are live performances, dance and music workshops, storytelling and Festival Village, a marketplace of food and craft booths. Attendees can camp overnight.

Cost: One-day tickets start at $55; a three-day pass costs $145. Children 12 and younger are free. A three-day camping pass is $60 per vehicle.

LAKE TAHOE

Concours d’Elegance

When, where: June 18-20, Sierra Boat Co. Marina

Highlights: One of North America’s premier wooden-boat shows is in its 28th year, with the docks lined with more than 100 restored antique vessels. Also: live music, food, a full bar and boat-themed vendor booths.

Cost: $30 for one day, $35 for two. The VIP Preview Day, June 18, costs $100 and includes wine, hors d’oeuvres and boat rides. The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, the event’s official sponsor, is offering a weekend rate of $199 a night.

HUNTINGTON BEACH

Project Save Our Surf: Surf 24

When, where: June 19 and 20, Southside Huntington Beach Pier

Highlights: Pro surfers and Hollywood actors engage in the third annual 24-hour surf-a-thon to celebrate International Surfing Day and to benefit ocean-saving nonprofits. Guest speakers include Ed Begley Jr. Also: bands, mural-painting, auctions, volleyball, yoga, eco-friendly vendors, a pancake breakfast and surf-film screenings.

Cost: No charge for spectators; breakfast is by donation

SANTA BARBARA

Summer Solstice Parade & Festival

When, where: June 25 and 26, various locations including State Street and Alameda Park

Highlights: The Carnaval-themed parade on June 26 is the main attraction and will feature more than 1,000 colorfully costumed participants on floats. The festival will also include a children’s area with storytellers, musicians, drum circle, street artists and jugglers. Adults can hang out in the beer and wine garden, sample foods from local restaurant and browse artistic wares from more than 75 vendors.
