Update: The Ducks end their underachieving season Sunday, failing to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 lockout. The off-season once again holds questions about whether Teemu Selanne and Scott Niedermayer will retire. Those players, along with Saku Koivu and Todd Marchant, are expected to return to the lineup Sunday for fan appreciation day after staying home during a meaningless two-game trip the Ducks used to evaluate younger players. Center Ryan Getzlaf has missed the last eight games because of a left ankle sprain, and defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky remains out after successful surgery on his broken right hand Friday. The Oilers have the worst record in the NHL and are completing one of the worst seasons in their history.
