An Orange County man has been convicted of attempted murder and mayhem in the unprovoked stabbings of two moviegoers during a screening of a horror film at a Fullerton theater.
A Superior Court jury found Steven Walter Robinson Jr. guilty Tuesday in the February 2008 attacks at the AMC Fullerton 20.
The panel also found that Robinson used a knife to inflict great bodily injury.
Authorities say Robinson stabbed a 38-year-old man in the chest, head, arm and knee, then slashed a 65-year-old man’s arm and hit him in the head with a hammer.
In “The Signal,†the movie being shown during the attacks, a transmission invades cellphones, radios and televisions, turning people into killers. Robinson faces life in prison.
