Two major power providers are quitting the U.S. Chamber of Commerce over the business group’s hard stance against new climate legislation.
Public Service Co. of New Mexico, the state’s largest utility, said that it saw climate change as a pressing environmental and economic issue.
It says it can be more productive by working with organizations that share its view on the need for “thoughtful, reasonable climate change legislation.”
On Wednesday, Pacific Gas & Electric, a major power provider in California, said that it would quit the chamber because of its “extreme” position on climate change.
