Regarding your Oct. 3 article on the Venice cottage, “And to Top It All Off . . . “ Using the space above the existing cottage was a great idea. However, I have never seen such monstrous architecture. After looking at the photos, I looked to see if you were extolling this addition or using it to show how appalling it was. I wonder how on earth the plans for this were passed, and how the neighbors are holding up with this eyesore.

This dreadful mishmash of architectural styles, obliterating the historic 1913 cottage on the bottom, is exactly why we have a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone in our West Adams neighborhood. For shame.
