Chino Basin Watermaster, a Southern California water agency that planned a Nov. 4 online auction to sell enough groundwater to supply 70,000 homes for a year, has postponed the sale until the spring.

Chief Executive Ken Manning said a number of potential bidders were concerned about how they would extract and transport the supplies. So his agency needs time to draw up purveyor agreements.

More than 25 potential bidders, including private investors, other water agencies and some developers, expressed interest in the auction, Manning said.
