CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / MONTEBELLO
An 84-year-old Montebello woman was struck and killed as she crossed an unmarked intersection with her dog, officials said Tuesday.
Norma Lambo, a longtime resident of Montebello, was crossing Jefferson Boulevard at the intersection of Alfred Place about 6:15 p.m. Monday when she was hit by a pickup truck, said Montebello Police Lt. Mike Bergman.
Lambo, whose late husband was the mayor of Montebello, died at the scene. Her dog also was killed. There is no crosswalk, stop sign or traffic light at the intersection, and it is unclear who was at fault, Bergman said. An investigation is ongoing.
