Twins say goodbye to dome with a win
MINNEAPOLIS -- DETROIT -- — More than 51,000 fans and dozens of players from Metrodome lore turned out on Sunday to say goodbye to the big, dingy building after 28 weird, wacky and sometimes wonderful baseball seasons.
Jason Kubel hit a pair of three-run homers and Minnesota beat Kansas City, 13-4, putting the Twins into a one-game playoff with the Detroit Tigers for the AL Central title. The game is Tuesday at the Metrodome.
“The place doesn’t want to go away quietly yet,” Kubel said.
Delmon Young added two solo home runs for the Twins.

Raburn homers twice
to help Tigers win
The Tigers did their part Sunday, then found cozy spots in their clubhouse, cafeteria or manager’s office to root for Kansas City to beat Minnesota.
No such luck.
Justin Verlander pitched into the eighth inning in the Tigers’ 5-3 victory against the Chicago White Sox, Ryan Raburn hit two homers and a rejuvenated Magglio Ordonez had a solo shot as part of a four-for-four day.
A big catch by Curtis Granderson in center helped the Tigers win for only the third time in eight games.
