Big Ten: Iowa’s perfect season ruined by Northwestern
Northwestern 17, at No. 8 Iowa 10: Dan Persa threw a touchdown pass and Marshall Thomas recovered a fumble for another score, and the Wildcats pulled off the upset to end the Hawkeyes’ 13-game winning streak. Iowa played without starting quarterback Ricky Stanzi after he suffered an ankle injury early in the second quarter. His replacement, freshman James Vandenberg, was only nine for 27 for 82 yards.
No. 24 Wisconsin 31, at Indiana 28: John Clay ran for a touchdown and had 134 of the Badgers’ 294 rushing yards, and Montee Ball scored two touchdowns as Wisconsin held off a fourth-quarter rally.
Purdue 38, at Michigan 36: Joey Elliott threw for a career-high 367 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another to help the Boilermakers win for the first time at the Big House since Bob Griese led them to victory in 1966.
Illinois 35, at Minnesota 32: Terry Hawthorne returned an interception 44 yards for a touchdown and Clay Nurse had four of the seven sacks for the Illini.
at Michigan State 49, Western Michigan 14: Little-used Ashton Leggett ran for 110 yards and four touchdowns, and Kirk Cousins threw for a career-high 353 yards and two scores to lead the Spartans over the Broncos (4-6).
