Cal State Fullerton reaches deal for space at Irvine’s Great Park
Cal State Fullerton and Lennar Corp. have reached an agreement to extend the university’s lease of classroom space in Irvine’s planned Great Park, ending a threat that students would be uprooted in the next few months.
The deal announced Thursday will keep the satellite campus operating in its leased space through August 2010, according to a joint statement by the university and the developer.
Earlier this month, The Times reported that Lennar had declined to renew the university’s lease because it wanted to raze the current campus building and begin preparing to build a new learning district as part of the sprawling park’s master plan. It was not clear what type of educational services would occupy the new campus area.
Cal State Fullerton President Milton Gordon said the deal “extends our ongoing partnership†with the development company.
