Why it matters: The Southern Section Division I-AA championship pits two defending title winners ranked in the top five in the Southland by The Times. No. 4 Long Beach Poly, the defending Division I-AA champion, will face off against No. 3 Cajon, last year’s Division II-A winner. Senior forward Monique Oliver averages 12.3 points per game and junior center Thaddesia Southall averages 11.1 for Poly. Senior guard Layshia Clarendon averages 19.5 points and senior center Darshae Burnside averages 18.1 for Cajon.
