20-20 vision

On a recent trip to Kauai, we took with us the Nov. 30, 2008, Travel section article that featured “Kauai: 20 Meals for $20.” [Editor’s note: One restaurant has since closed, and the story can be seen online at latimes.com/kauai.] We stopped for lunch at a few of your suggested places: Monico’s Taqueria, Hamura’s Saimin Stand, Kilauea Fish Market and Duane’s Ono Char-Burger.
Although it was a challenge to find these out-of-the-way places, it was an experience to eat with the locals and to pay much less than at touristy spots.
We were sorry that we were not in Kauai longer so we could check out the other places you recommended.
