Mark Cavendish wins another stage, Lance Armstrong stays third

Teammates Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong remained second and third Tuesday in the Tour de France after a technology-free day of riding in which Britain’s Mark Cavendish won the 10th stage.
Cavendish edged Thor Hushovd of Norway, breaking ahead in the final 200 yards. It was the British sprinter’s third stage victory of this Tour. Rinaldo Nocentini of Italy kept the leader’s yellow jersey.
Organizers banned rider earpieces for the 121-mile route, forcing cyclists to devise tactics without radio instructions from team cars.
The ban also is scheduled for Friday, a tricky stage featuring one big climb and possibly many attacks.
Quote of the day: “In cycling, we have other, more important, things to care about,” -- Armstrong, on the absence of race radios.

Today’s stage: A 119.3-mile trek from Vatan to Saint-Fargeau that favors the sprinters.
Destination Saint-Fargeau: Saint-Fargeau is the historic capital of La Puisaye region in France. Its history resonates throughout the town because of the upkeep of its Chateau Fargeau. This site is home to the Son-et-lumiere, a grand sound and light show organized to finance restoration of the building. The show retraces over 1,000 years of history.
